Semtu Oy has been active in launching the latest developments in building materials and solutions since 1942. As a wholesale dealer for technical construction products we are supported by a comprehensive supplier and customer network. Our main market area is Finland, Estonia and Latvia.

The Baltic business is run by our subsidiaries AS Semtu in Estonia and SIA Semtu in Latvia. 

Our office is situated in Talma Sipoo, about 30 km from Helsinki. Our company group employs ca. 25 people and makes an annual turnover of ca. 14 million euros.

Our business idea is to introduce new product solutions and to create added value for our customers who - we believe - are our actual employers.

We have a close co-operation with our customers with the optimum result for the end-users as a common goal. Our main customer groups are concrete industry, construction materials industry, building companies, planners and construction retailers. We also have committed ourselves to continuous product and solution development together with our suppliers and customers and we are following keenly the latest trends on the market.

Semtu – active in concrete industry business since 1942

Semtu Oy was founded during the 2nd World War in order to ensure the availability of raw materials for the Finnish concrete industry. In the 40s the company's activities consisted mainly of trading of colour pigments to concrete roof tiles and of reinforcement bars. Later the more favourable market conditions in the early 50s enabled the company to expand its activities and product range to machines, equipment and building chemicals.

The company started also own production of reinforcements for concrete pipes in the late 50s which continued with anchor plates and several other types of metal products and steel constructions for concrete and construction industry. From 60s to mid 90s the own production was important part of the total turnover of the company.

The trading business which is now the main activity of the company started to grow considerably in the 60s covering all kinds of needs of the concrete industry. The three main sectors were concrete machinery, concrete pipe seals and concrete chemicals.

End 80s the management of the company bought the entire capital stock of the company from the 42 shareholders at that time. This was a start of a new development phase in the company's history which brought along expansion in neighboring Baltic countries in the 90s. All activities were also moved to the present premises when the office was built in the vicinity of old store end 90s.

The economic depression in the early 90s changed the concept of the company. The own production was sold out and the focus was set in import and marketing of materials and supplies for concrete and construction industry.

Since then we have been offering a broad range of well-proven solutions for construction purposes - applied to the local conditions. They include concrete admixtures and other chemicals, pigments, machinery, equipment and supplies; fixing and lifting parts and other supplies for precast industry . Today also flooring and tunneling as well as waterproofing and concrete repair solutions are continuously developed.
